Aleister Crowley – portrait

A portrait of Aleister Crowley after the photo-shoot of him and his wife Maria de Miramar with LIFE Magazine.

The photo-shoot was held at the end of 1929, and Mansell developed them in 1930.

Aleister Crowley Portrait

My own coloration is based on various descriptions of Crowleys appearance at the time.

A great thanks to Richard Kaczynski for his priceless and neutral biography Perdurabo, as well as the LAShTAL community for the enlightening discussion on what coulour eyes Crowley had.

If enough interest is shown, I might consider running a limited series of prints of these.
